I owned one of these in the 80's with a Japanese movement and it ran smoothly without repair during the heavy and hard use of an active water sports enthusiast in his late teens and twenties. It dove, skied, sailed and stormed many beaches never failing me. I made the mistake of switching bands to a metal one and finally lost my old friend playing football in a beach in Hawaii. (I am sure it is still running somewhere in the depths of the pacific ocean). I made do with other watches for several years but finally decided to buy another one 5 years ago. This one has an automatic movement from Malaysia. It is currently on my wrist and so far it has never broken and I perceive no inaccuracy in its timekeeping. These days I am perhaps not as rough as I used to be on this one but I still sail and do a lot of water activities for which I am glad to have "a cousin" of my trusty old friend with me.

The watch is beautiful and if it lasts as long as the first Seiko I gave my dad 30 years ago, what a deal it will be! He loves the see through back and has always worn self-winders. He's very happy.

I bought this watch for my dad, and my ten-year-old nephew as their very first Seiko 5. It is incredibly well-made, with everything you need, all the bells & whistles.

THIS WATCH PROVED TO BE A VERY NICE WATCH. IT LOOKS GOOD, WORKS WELL AND WAS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS IN THE PAST WITH TRYING TO REPLACE BATTERIES IN MY OLD WATCH, SO I LOVE THE FACT I NO LONGER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT. SINCE I DON'T WEAR IT EVERYDAY, I HAVE TO GET USE TO RESETTING THE TIME AND DATE MORE OFTEN. IF YOU WANT A WATCH THAT SHOWS STYLE, GIVE THIS ONE A TRY ,I DID AND I AM GLAD.
